I’ve found a way to increase the reach of my writing practice despite COVID limiting me to solitary endeavors. As we wait to see what this winter brings, I’d like to share what I’ve found to be courses well-worth more time online.
This series of posts covers the 5 best online writing courses – actually where to find them. Each post will examine the range of classes, the experience in the classes, and the adequacy of the communication with the organization. It will also rate the courses on those attributes, with 5 = YES!

There are also courses in Art Business; Art History; Art Law; Career Studies; Collecting; Contemporary Art; Curating; Design; Luxury Business; Specializations & Skills.
Students can opt to receive a Certificate of Completion from Sotheby’s Institute of Art by meeting the additional assignment requirements for the Certificate. The digital version of the certificates can be shared on social media platforms. You’ll find additional information about the Course Completion Certificate at the More Information > Course Completion link at the bottom of the info for each course.
The Flexible Art Writing and other classses I’ve taken at Sotheby’s as research for a project have been top notch. There is a video lecture of one or two parts each week. Courses often include video interviews with authorities in their areas of expertise. There are also required and optional readings. Students are required to write a discussion post and comment on other’s discussion posts each week – which makes for a lively class. The faculty are all experts in their fields. They are also good communicators.
